The lovely couple pictured at left was married 50 years ago, and several generations gathered to celebrate the landmark year this summer. Her daughter contacted us from her home state of Illinois and asked us to make a replica of the original wedding bouquet and have it ready when the family arrived in Orlando.
When I saw the photo of the original, I noticed that the focal flower is white clematis, and after making calls to some specialty suppliers, I had to come to terms with the fact that I was not going to be able to get fresh cut clematis or even a blooming clematis plant on short notice.
This left me to explore the world of silks, which I rarely do. I felt so lucky when I found silk clematis in the same white as the original bouquet, and was able to make a replica that the anniversary couple would recognize immediately.
The photographer hired to shoot the couple’s anniversary portraits is my friend Anna Powers of Sunbright Sparrow Studio. Thanks, Anna, for sharing this photo with us!
